The needs of Aboriginal people in the Northern Territory justice system have never been higher. Over many years, laws and policies have led to the high incarceration rate of Aboriginal men, women and children, and the Northern Territory is currently not on track to meet Closing the Gap targets to reduce the incarceration rates of Aboriginal people.
Aboriginal children routinely comprise 95 per cent of the youth detention population in the NT and their mistreatment in detention led to a royal commission.
Aboriginal women represent the fastest growing incarcerated group, with underlying issues of poverty, trauma, domestic and family violence, and homelessness contributing to their overrepresentation in the criminal justice system.
With your support, NAAJA can make a difference.

Corporate partners
We welcome partnerships with corporate organisations that have aligned values and missions by exploring options for event fundraising, joint projects, work experience, and law cadet placements.
